Important Information
Thank You! - Teacher Appreciation week will certainly not be the same this year. It is always nice to be together to recognize our awesome staff. This year we recognize all you do by the kind words of appreciation that are shared with you remotely. Mr. Rader and NHS put together the excellent video above to appreciate you for all you do. You are a talented group of educators who care about children. This video clearly demonstrated the impact you have on your students. Thank you for all you do, day in and day out, for the students in our district.
Mr. Artino - For years, Mr. Artino has generously given his time to substitute in our building. In January, he was diagnosed with cancer. A GoFundMe page was started to help pay for Mr. Artino's bills. Please consider supporting the kind, and our favorite, harmonica playing substitute.
Final Exams - Please use some time this week to settle students' nerves about final exams. Emphasize that the take-home assignments that are counting as exams are not their typical exams. As explained in the last staff meeting and in last week's newsletter, build in weekly checks or milestones where you give feedback is a great way to encourage, support, and guide students as they progress through their work. Let the students know the workload should not be overwhelming, and time will be given to appropriately complete what is asked of them. Do not give students additional work to complete while working on your exam. Please keep in mind when assigning the final work that students typically take at least 6 classes, and we can not ask students to complete what is typically asked of them while in school.
The Great Space Debate - Looking as though my bulletin was a little short this week, I decided to add some BIG recently published news. According to Microsoft Word, only one space should be used after a period. In fact, Word will now highlight this extra space as being incorrect. I always use two spaces! In fact, I instinctually use two spaces after a period. I guess I need to break this habit. Word!
