Weekly Bulletin for April 27, 2020

WKYC highlighted West G in recognizing the Class of 2020
Monday evening.  Schools throughout the state turned on
their stadium lights to show support for their seniors.

"A solid unrecoverable F is never a solid learning tool. It does not create moral fiber (and) respect for deadlines the way most teachers think.  F's, D's, and zeroes are terrible teachers and builders of self-discipline. We literally know how to build self-discipline, integrity, and honor, and none of that stuff says to use the grade book to do it for you." Click here for the video.

Important Information

US News & World Report - Last week, US News & World Report released its 2020 Best High Schools Rankings.  It was very nice to read West Geauga High School was ranked #38 in Ohio and #15 in NE Ohio. This is the fifth year in a row we made gains in the media outlet's prestigious report. Last year we ranked 63rd. Ranking data is from the 2017-2018 school year. It is through our commitment to make sure every student reaches their potential that we continue to make these gains.  I am proud of all our work to get to the 38th spot.  I look forward to our work ahead to do what is best for our students and ultimately pass other area high schools. Click here to see the US News Ranking and here for an article from Cleveland.com.

Payroll - Classified staff members needing to submit timesheets should provide the signed documents to Joyce by the 30th.  Thanks.

Supplementals Compensation Forms - By the end of the school year, please submit Supplemental Compensation Forms to me.  You can download and complete the forms by logging into your Staff Intranet Account found here.

Supplemental Applications - Please complete a supplemental application if you are interested in fulfilling a contract next year.  Forms can also be downloaded on the Staff Intranet.

Announcements - West G TV is looking to broadcast announcements on the club's YouTube channel. Please submit announcements, shoutouts, etc. to Westg.Tv@westg.org. This is a great way to keep our school community informed and together during the pandemic. Thank you to Kelly Klampe and Sarah Thrasher for your work with your students to keep the announcements going!

Finals Exams - Beginning May 8, 2020, please start to issue students your final projects or exams. As discussed in last week's staff meeting, provide opportunities before students turn in their final work to meet with you to give feedback regarding their progress.  Building in weekly checkpoints or milestones where you give students feedback is a great way to encourage, support, and guide students as they progress through their finals.
