Important Information
Zoom Sessions - It was great to visit ten Zoom sessions last week and see first hand how you were leading our students in instruction, formative assessments, and learning feedback. It was clear many of you worked out the bugs with Zoom and truly made the time with your students beneficial. Congratulations! Again, thank you for your work in maintaining instruction during these difficult times.
Calendar - As you can see above, I included all the upcoming dates as if we are back in the building on May 4. We are still awaiting Governor DeWine's decision on the matter; however, we need to keep these dates in mind in the event we are back. I would expect some adjustment to these dates if it is determined school will resume in the buildings.
Final Exams - For students not taking an AP exam this year, please plan to give students a take-home final exam. This final can be comprised of a group or individual project to demonstrate the proficiency of standards. Time should be given for students to complete the work. For more information on assessing and grading during the pandemic, check out this great conversation with Thomas Guskey and Rick Wormelli.
Scheduling - When you meet with your students this week, please make a quick announcement reminding the students to complete their elective course requests by this Friday. They all received an emailed letter from me with directions explaining the process. Thank you!
Workload - Several students have individually reached out to me concerning the amount of work they are receiving in their classes. I encouraged them to email or talk with their teachers to explain their thoughts and concerns. I also want to remind you to be aware of the stress our students are experiencing while trying to learn from home. This is not easy for most of them, so please be flexible, understanding, and lenient in assigning and accepting work.Google Classroom and Zoom Sessions - To remain consistent for the sanity of our students, please place your Zoom session links and passwords on your Google Classroom pages. If sessions were not posted, several students didn't know where to find the link and had a hard time joining. Start this practice this week.
PLC's - Please establish weekly subject PLC meeting dates and times for the rest of the year. Plan meetings as if we are not back in the building. One member of the team needs to schedule these dates in Google Calendar, invite your PLC members, and invite Shawn and me.
