Important Information

Costco - On Wednesday, February 24th, Costco will be in the teacher's lounge during the lunch periods.  Representatives will be offering incentives to individuals interesting in becoming a Costco member.

Snowball - A big thank you to Stephanine Meyer and student council for putting together a very nice snowball dance for our students.  Also, thank you to Mr. Shiban and Mrs. Sessler for volunteering a good part of their evening to assist with the dance.  Your help is greatly appreciated by our students and they loved seeing you there.

College Fair Update - Please remind our students to take advantage of the outstanding opportunity to attend the WEDGE College Fair at WGHS on Monday, April 25th, 2016.  This fair has become so well received that over 100 colleges and universities are expected to attend.  It was just announced last week that Jim Tressel will be a guest speaker during the evening.

Community Service Opportunities - Please let me know if your club/activity is looking for community service hours.  The West Geauga Kiwanis is recruiting to help with their annual pancake breakfast which begins on Saturday, February 28th and ends on March 20th.  If interested, your commitment is only for a few hours on one of the Saturdays. Thanks!

Interventions - There isn't a better teacher to support your students than you.  Be sure to assign struggling students to see you during advisory periods, before or after school.  Set up a schedule and hold your students accountable for being there.  Struggling senior ELA students are spending time with their English teacher as well as in Mr. Marino's writing lab.

The Diversity Center of NEO presents
to our freshmen mentors.

Diversity Center of NEO - On Friday, the Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio presented information to our freshmen mentors on topics that included race/ethnicity, (dis)ability, gender and diversity.  This training provided an eye opening experience to many of the mentors as these sensitive topics were discussed.  This Thursday and Friday, our mentors will lead the freshmen class in prepared lessons in an effort to create a class where all students are respected and valued.  It is my goal to provide this or a similar training to each freshmen class that enters WGHS.  Thank you to Dale Smith for advising our mentors and helping to put together this wonderful program.
