Important Information
Interventions - There isn't a better teacher to support your students than you. Be sure to assign struggling students to see you during advisory periods. Set up a schedule and hold your students accountable for being there. Struggling senior ELA students are spending time with their English teacher as well as in Mr. Marino's writing lab.
Swimming - Congratulations to eight of our swimmer who advanced to the District Swim Meet next weekend. Be sure to wish them your best as they swim at CSU. Our district qualifiers are:
Grace Platek 50 and 100 Free
Chase Waterman 100 breaststroke
Tucker Harvey 200 freestyle

LMS's - After class has ended for the day and students are working on your course, there is no resource greater than your online Learning Management System (LMS). Some LMS's used by our teachers include Moodle, Google Classroom, websites that are updated frequently (daily or weekly), Schoology, etc. Many of you are using more than one option. Please make sure your teacher link on our high school's website points to where your students go for resources, test prep material, assignments, enrichment and intervention activities.
Online Test Skills - It is extremely important for our students to understand how to navigate the AIR Test. The online test environment is not something that comes easy for many of us. It is important that students are fluent in the ability to navigate a testing environment. Students need these tech skills in order for them to show mastery of the content rather than just technical ability. INFOhio has put together a nice website that will help guide you through the testing environment as well as resources for your students. Here is a direct link to the site. Edcite is a nice website where you can build and store online assessments that resemble the AIR testing environment. Sample online assessments here.

Congratulations - Congratulations to Tom Booth for his newly accepted position as an Ohio Education Association Representative. Tom's last day working at West G was Friday and I wish him the best in his new role. Tom's teaching position is currently being posted. We are looking for a long term substitute to fill the position for the remainder of the year and we hope to have an individual selected soon.
Snowball Volunteers - We are in need of teacher and staff help the night of the dance. If anyone is willing to take tickets at the door (from roughly 8 pm to 9 pm), assist in the coat check area (8-9 pm and 10:30-11 pm), or you just want to come and see your students dressed up nice and having a blast well helping us chaperone please let Stephanie know ASAP.
Leave Documentation- When you are absent from class for a meeting, whether it be an IEP meeting or any other meeting in the building, please fill out the half sheet class coverage form for your absence from class. This verifies and "backs up" the other paperwork received from the person who covers your class. A regular professional day form should be filled out in advance also. How you fill out the form and what paperwork you attach to it, tells Joyce what reimbursements or payments should be made. Please be mindful of that when you turn in the form. If your are out because of being sick, as a courtesy Joyce places one in your mailbox to help remind you. Please fill it out and turn it in the next day that you return. If you enter an absence in AESOP as a personal day, a personal leave form should be filled out 5 days in advance. Sometimes the personal day is an emergency and that is acceptable if it is turned in a little later.
