Important Information
Brick Order Form - Incredibly, almost 85 percent of the new turn turf field and related projects has been donated by private families and businesses in the West G community. The committee has seen an increased interest in starting new projects within the district and has plans to continue the fundraising momentum. Many of you saw the engraved bricks at the stadium entrance and inquired about getting one. Here is the form you can download if you wish to purchase a brick.
Congratulations to our Science Dept. - Our members of our science department and Mr. Spotts (Robotics) have received the Governor's Thomas Edison Awards for Excellence in STEM Education. "To receive the award, schools had (1) to conduct a local science fair with 20 or more students, (2) qualify one or more of these students for one of the Academy's 16 district science days, (3) have students participate in at least one more youth science opportunity beyond the classroom such as State Science Day, visits to museums, mentorship programs and extended field trips and (4) convince external professionals from STEM business and industry, government and academia employers how and to what extent the school’s program met the Academy’s definition of STEM education." Positive Phone Calls - Hopefully all of you have had the opportunity to make at least one positive phone call home regarding a student in your classroom. If not, consider it this week. Great things are happening in your classrooms and parents should know about it.
Twitter Accounts - I am seeing more and more of you creating and using Twitter accounts to get information out about your classes, clubs and teams. It is a great tool for getting the message out. If you coach or advise a club, please create an account and let me know about it. I will retweet your posts to WGHS's nearly 500 followers. This will help get students and parents excited about the good things you are doing.
Open House - Among all of Friday evenings events, thank you for the work you put into making Open House 2014 successful. We had many parents explain that they liked the new format. Please drop off the parent sign-in sheet to my mailbox and let me know your thoughts regarding the evening.

SLO Pre-Assessments - Many of you explained you already gave your SLO Pre-assessment during the last two weeks. If you have not done so already, go ahead and give them to your students. Again, all pre-assessment scores must be available at the end of the month.
IEP and 504's - Please make sure you stay familiar with the IEP and 504 documents for each relevant student in your class. All documents must be followed as noted. See me or the student's Intervention Specialist if you have any questions.
Homecoming - Homecoming week is right around the corner and I encourage you to assist in putting together the best parade ever. If you advise a club or coach a sport, get involved in the parade by putting together a float. See Stephanie Rischar for details.
