Important Information
Breakfast - A big thank you to Mark Walton for organizing the breakfast from pop machine funds. Also, thank you to Cindy Widing for putting it all together. It was a nice treat after our first full week of school.
Progress Reports - Progress reports are due on Tuesday, September 23 at the end of the day. Any student that is getting a D or an F in your class should have a progress report sent home.
Fall Make-up OGT - Fall OGT's will be given during the week of October 27. Here is a confidential complete list of students needing to retake the test. Please look over the list in order to identify any students in your classes and offer assistance to them if they need to pass your subject area.
Freshman Mentoring - On October 1, a guest speaker will talk to all freshman about tolerance and acceptance. The program will run from 7:30-8:15 and all freshman and their mentors should be in class by 8:20.
Cafe Achieve - Cafe Achieve is now offering breakfast to along with their coffee and hot chocolate. Cafe achieve is located in the back of the cafeteria and is open to staff and students. Click here for a complete menu.
State Report Cards - The State Report Cards were released last week and the district's scores are to be commended. Brenda stated in an email last week, "We have achieved our highest performance index rating to date! Congratulations! We have, once again, met every state test indicator. Additionally, as the school year continues, we will look to the data to help select areas for focus moving forward. Thank you for all that you do for our students every day. This data is a tribute to the hard work of our teaching staff and students coupled with the support of our families and community." WGHS's performance index was 109.6 for the second year in a row. PARCC Assessments - It has been determined that only 9th graders will be required to take the PARCC assessments this year. WGHS will not offer the Performance Based and End of Year Assessments to our 10th, 11th or 12th grade students this year. It is, however, important for all teachers to monitor the practice assessments as well as any changes on the PARCC and ODE sites. More information to follow!
WEDGE - WEDGE is the West Geauga Educational Foundation, a nonprofit and volunteer-run organization. The group awards money for innovative and creative programs in the West Geauga School System. West Geauga Education Foundation is looking to fund innovative projects at the high school. Be sure to fill out an application if you have any ideas that could use some financial backing.
