Important Information
Homecoming - Thank you to everyone who made it a great homecoming. Our staff did an outstanding job helping it all come together. A big thank you to Stephanie Rischar and student council for planning and implementing all the details. Homecoming 2014 was a fantastic event as you can see from the photographs. Be sure to congratulate Nicole Luciano on being voted the 2014 Homecoming Queen.
Academic Referrals - As of today only 25 academic referrals have been submitted yet 256 different student progress reports were mailed home. Make sure you complete an academic referral for every student that is struggling in your class.
Teacher and Staff Person of the Year - Congratulations to Mr. Toriello for being presented with the PTO Teacher of the Year Award and to Mrs. Yarcusko being named the Staff Person of the Year. Great work!

Volunteer Opportunity - Please see this link with an opportunity for your club, sport or activity to help senior citizens clean up their yards this fall. This is a great way to make connections with our community!
Relay for Life - As you know by now, West Geauga Schools will host a Relay for Life event in June. Our goal is to raise $30,000 for the event and I encourage all of you to join the fight against cancer by forming a team to participate. Teams are comprised of family, friends, clubs, athletic teams and other school organizations. Please see this flyer for more information.
State Test Security Procedure - On September 26, Brenda Harriss emailed each of you information and a form for administering state mandated tests. Please complete the form and return it to me by Friday, October 3, 2014. You can also find the information here.
PARCC- Here are the definitions for PBA and EOY in the event you missed it.
- Performance-Based Assessment (PBA):For PARCC, the performance-based assessment will be administered approximately 75 percent of the way through the academic study of the grade or course content. Student results on the PBAs will be combined with their results on end-of-year assessments (EOYs) to produce overall PARCC scores in each content area. PBAs in math will focus on reasoning and modeling and include questions that require both short and extended responses. In ELA/literacy, the PBAs will focus on both reading comprehension and writing when analyzing texts.
- End of Year Assessment (EOY):End-of-year assessments are administered after approximately 90 percent of the school year. The ELA/literacy EOY will focus on reading comprehension. The mathematics EOY will ask students to demonstrate solid understanding of math concepts and demonstrate mathematical fluency.
