Important Information

Teacher Appreciation - I would like to take this opportunity to tell all of you how much I value what you do day in and day out with our students.  You are an awesome staff!  You clearly care about kids and helping them grow into well-educated young adults.  Your actions demonstrate the importance of addressing each student as an individual learner.  I know you often go above and beyond to ensure each one gains understanding to reach his/her fullest potential.  We are a Blue Ribbon school, in large, because of you.  I am proud you teach at West Geauga High School.  THANK YOU!

Senior Signing Day - Senior Signing Day congratulates and recognizes our seniors for deciding what they will be doing after they leave West Geauga High School.  All seniors photos will be displayed on certificates next week indicating their college or career choice. A big thank you to Jeff Novy for assisting with the photos this year.  I would also like to recognize Mr. Callahan, Mrs. Zannetti, Ms. Widman and Mrs. Vlah for their hard work in putting this event together.

Phone vs. Email -  A good rule of thumb to follow when contacting parents is to always make first contact with a phone call.  Tone is often very difficult to read through an email and can often leave parents with negative feelings regarding the communication.  After establishing the call and setting the tone, feel free to correspond via email.  Keep in mind, however, that thoughts are often much easier to communicate through phone conversations than through email.

Blizzard Bags - Our first Blizzard Bag is due May 12 and will be applied to January 28th's attendance.  Please use Progress Book's period attendance to document if a student should be marked present for January 28th.  If a student does not turn in Blizzard Bag #1 by May 12, you should mark them absent. Please have the attendance entered by May 16th.  Blizzard Bag #2 is due on May 28th and applies to January 29th's attendance. Follow the same procedures for documenting the second Blizzard Bag.

Congratulations to all of our senior band
members for their performance last week
at the spring concert.
OMEA State Competition  - Two weeks our band performed at the OMEA State Band Competition and received a 'I' rating which is superior.  Congratulations to Mr. Branch, Mrs. Cosenza and the entire band on their hard work all season.

SLO's - When you are finished with you SLO's, please print and turn in to me.  Please include the SLO, Pre-test, Post-test and Rubric.

Alumni Directory - On April 30th, Brenda Harriss sent out an email regarding the alumni directory.  We are in the process of building a database of West G's alumni.  Please encourage our 'Wolverines" to update their information as soon as possible.  Our goal is to have all alumni listed with current information in our newest alumni book to be released in early October.

New Calendar - The 2014-2015 calendar was recently approved at the last board meeting.  The calendar is found on the district site and can be found here.

School Climate Survey - We will be conducting a school climate survey of all staff and students prior to the end of the school year.  This survey will be similar to the one given at the beginning of the school year.  I am currently working on a schedule and will have this information out to you as soon as possible.

Grants- Many of you have expressed an interested in writing a grant for ideas you have generated throughout the school year.  Please understand that Brenda Harriss will be more than happy to help formulate your ideas and assist you in getting the grant written.  Please see Brenda for more information.

PARCC and TIDE End of Year Pilot Assessments - The links below contain the assessment times and participating students for the end of the year assessments.

End of the Year Checkouts - Check outs can be held at the end of the day on Friday, June 6 if you are finished with all responsibilities.  You can begin to collect signatures from Vickie and Joyce as early as Thursday, June 5.  I will be in the week of June 9th if you would like to have some extra time to get your work completed.  Grades must be submitted prior to checking out and are due not later than Tuesday, June 10th.
