Important Information


National Achievement Scholar - Please be sure to congratulate Paedyn Gomes on achieving National Achievement Scholar status.  He will be receiving a scholarship in the amount of $2,500. Like the National Merit program, the National Achievement program is a well respected academic honor.  The National Achievement program recognizes outstanding Black American high school students.  Click here for more information about the program.   

Prezi - This week Mr. Whelan presented on a really cool technology that goes above and beyond the traditional PowerPoint program.  Check out his presentation here.

TIDE vs. PARCC -TIDE and PARCC are both are considered Next Generation Assessments by ODE.  We are a pilot school for both programs and will be testing students in English, math, science and social studies.  Although the scores will not count, it is important we encourage our students to do well.

  • PARCC - Ohio is among 19 states that are working as a consortium, called the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC), to develop a common set of K-12 assessments in English and math. The assessments will be anchored in what it takes to be ready for college and careers, and will be ready for states to administer during the 2014-15 school year. (Soucre -ODE)
  • TIDE - The Test Information Distribution Engine (TIDE) is the online system that will be used by the State of Ohio to provide end of year assessment in Science and Social Studies.  


TIDE Pilot Test -  The TIDE test will be given to students during the week of April 7th.  Please click here for the test schedule and click here for participating students.
