Important Information
Academic Awards Ceremonies - This year's underclass and senior awards ceremonies are scheduled for
April 21st and May 18th, respectively. Instead of recognizing our students in person, a video will be recorded and released on the above dates. Joyce Laurita already collected from staff a list of awards to be given. This award ceremony is a great way to recognize (PBIS) your students for their great work and accomplishments in your classrooms, and as part of the teams and/or clubs you advise. All departments will be represented at this ceremony. If you have additional awards to give that were not previously told to Joyce, please do as soon as possible. She will print certificates for you. Thank you!
STEM Scholarship - Believe in Ohio offers a $1,000 STEM Scholarship to recognize junior and senior students for their contributions to STEM innovations and entrepreneurship. Students from each of Ohio's 99 State House Representative districts and 33 State Senate districts will be awarded the scholarship. Be sure to recommend students that would be good candidates for the scholarship. Please have one-on-one conversations with deserving students and reach out to their parents to let them know about this prestigious opportunity. The application deadline is April 15, 2021. Please check out Believe in Ohio for more information.
AIR Test Security - Test Administration Certification Course - Click here to access the Test Administration Certification Course. This Test Administrator Interface Certification Course Companion Document is referenced during the course. The 30-minute course must be completed before April 9, 2020. Certificates at the end of the course DO NOT need to be turned in. I have a record of completed courses.
*Reminder*
ADL - Last year, West Geauga High School was named a No Place for Hate school by the Anti-Defamation League. This year our No Place for Hate team is led by Ethan Teare and Shannua Crossman, who are working with a group of students to create two programs for our school to combat bias and bullying. The first program will take place on Monday, March 15, 2021, and Tuesday, March 16, 2021, during the 5th-period snack break. Please read this activity description and be prepared to lead this activity to your students on Monday and/or Tuesday next week.
Monitor Halls - Please stand at your door between periods. Not only does this help curb negative behavior, but it is also a nice gesture to greet the students as they enter your room.
