Important Information

Stop The Hate  - Each year the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage hosts the 2019 Stop the Hate Youth Speak Out essay contest for students in grades 6-12.  The museum gives out $100,000 in scholarship prizes each year to student finalists from 12 Northeast Ohio counties.  I am proud to announce that West Geauga Senior Marcie Baker is listed as a 2019 finalist in this prestigious contest.  Marcie's essay was selected as a finalist from over 1000 junior and senior submissions.  Please be sure to congratulation Marcie on her tremendous accomplishment and wish her the best on March 14th when she reads her essay in front of a panel of judges. Also, congratulations to Keli Sessler and her high school teachers who worked with her develop her writing over the years.

National Merit Finalist

National Merit Competition - More good news for another member of our senior class.  Last week I notified Bennett Palmer of his recent advancement to Finalists standing in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Bennett is one of 15,000 students nationally vying to be named National Merit Scholarship Winner. Please be sure to congratulate Bennett.

Diving - West Geauga junior, Hannah Zahniser, is headed back to the State Diving Meet for the third year in a row!  She will compete in Canton on Wednesday for the top spot in the state.  At the end of the day on Tuesday, we will hold a clap out for Hannah to wish her the best in the competition.  I will make an announcement around 2:25 for teachers to bring students to the hall.  Teachers, please join your students in the hall as she walks from the offices to 105 to 124 to 133 and back to the offices. Thank you.

ACT - Thank you to everyone that attended Sarah Widman's meeting on Wednesday to cover the ACT proctoring information.  Please see Sarah if you missed the meeting.  All teachers need to remind juniors of their requirement to be at school by 7:20 on Wednesday for the test.  Thank you.

Period Attendance - All teachers must take accurate attendance every period.  This is a requirement of the state and the information is reported directly to ODE.  Please see Theresa Poelking or me with any questions.
