Remind - If you haven't already, be sure to sign up for the WGHS staff remind text messages. Although I am not a fan of sending messages to you at the last mintue, it did come in handy during the extra time needed for the PSAT test. Education Foundation - The West Geauga Education Foundation very excited to share that WGEF has almost $20K this year for grant disbursements for the West G district! If you have an innovative idea that you would like to bring to the classroom, it is likely the education foundation will be interested in providing the funds. Click here to access information about the foundation as well the application. Grant requests are due mid-November and again in February.
FOX 8 at WGHS - On Tuesday, FOX 8 will be at West Geauga to interview a couple of our sophomore students regarding their thoughts on the future of our county. The station is calling the segment "The Voting Class of 2020." Two students from each NE Ohio county have been selected to participate. We are fortunate they selected WGHS to represent Geauga County. The reporter and camera person will be capturing school footage throughout the afternoon so don't be surprised if they pop in your classroom.
Bully Prevention - October is Bully Prevention Month. The month is designated to bring awareness and remind our student and staff about the prevalence of bullying in communities. Always be mindful of the conversations that are taking place in your classroom. If you observe anyone being improperly treated by another student or adult, report the incident to Mr. Dahlhofer or me as soon as possible. We will often ask reporting staff members to provide a written account of the incident. The same is true if a student tell you about a situation where they felt harassed or bullied. Please let the school's administration know so the situation can be fully investigated.
Monitor Halls - Please stand at your door between periods. Not only does this help curb any negative behavior, it is a nice gesture to greet the students as they enter your room. Report bullying and harassing behavior to Mr. Dahlhofer or me.
CVC Leadership Conference - Thank you to Stephanie Meyer and West G's student council for hosting the second annual Chagrin Valley Leadership Conference. Seven Chagrin Valley schools brought students to our gymnasium to develop and improve their individual and group leadership skills. Great job, Stephanie.
