| WGHS Art students traveled to the Holden Arboreatum and Sunnybrook Preserve last week to discover art in nature. |
Everyday is a new opportunity. You can build on yesterday's success or put its failures behind and start over again. That is the way life is, with a new game everyday. And that is the way baseball is.

SWD, ESSA and Graduation - In September, ODE published a presentation describing what happens if students with disabilities do not meet the school or Ohio's graduation requirements. Prior to Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), students with disabilities (SWD) could be exempt from meeting the OGT and End of Course requirements. Beginning with the class of 2018, students do not meet standard graduation requirements if they: are excused from the consequences of graduation assessments; take alternative assessments; or graduate by meeting IEP goals. What does this mean for WGHS? We must ensure that all students are able to meet the graduation requirements as set by the State of Ohio and West Geauga Local Schools. We meet the needs of SWD by providing supports and differentiated instruction per students' IEP's.
I am very proud of our staff for working hard to make sure we are reaching the learning needs of all of our students. I am especially proud of the special education teachers and regular education teachers who have embraced the co-taught model in the classroom. It is through these approaches that we will ensure ALL students are College and Career Ready. Thank you!

Edulastic - Recently, a couple departments began using Edulastic for presenting assessments to their students. Edulastic is an online platform for assessing students and keeping track of their progress by standard. The online interface is similar to what the students will see when they sit for an End of Course exam. I encourage you to create an account and explore this online assessment platform.
