Important Information
Speaker Series - It is with great enthusiasm that I am announcing a WGHS speaker series for all students beginning the second quarter of the school year. Speakers will likely present to the freshmen and sophomores on Tuesdays and juniors and seniors on Thursdays. The speaker series is currently looking for topics and speakers to make presentations that are relevant and interesting to our student body. If you have any ideas, please record them on this spreadsheet. Your input would be of great assistance. Also, please consider being a presenter! It would be great for our teachers to share their expertise, hobbies, interests and provide relevant information to our students. All topics, of course, will need to be pre-approved for relevancy. We look forward to hearing from you!!
Academic Support Forms - The new and improved Academic Support Forms are ready to go! Some changes this year include information regarding content standards. The new forms will be automatically emailed to the family along with a letter describing the process and provided supports. You will no longer need to forward an email to the student and parents! Please click here to see an example of the letter that is generated and sent to the families. The process for completing the forms will remain the same. Evaluations - You are scheduled to be formally or informally observed during the 2017-2018 school year. Please be sure to complete your growth plan prior to Sept. 30 and schedule a day to review the document with your observing principal. If you are being formally observed, please select a few dates and times that are available for your first observation.
You will need to establish two goals when creating your growth plan. The first goal should address Student Outcomes/Achievement and the second needs to reflect Teacher Performance on the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession. Please be sure to include building goals that were discussed on Convocation Day.

Homecoming Parade - If you are an adviser to a school organization, please encourage your group to put together a float for the homecoming parade. The homecoming parade is a well attended event and an opportunity to showcase your club.
Homecoming Week - Thank you to Mrs. Meyer for sending out the homecoming week details in an email. The details for the week are below.
- Sunday, October 1st -Student Council will be decorating the hallways for spirit week. We will be decorating ONLY the main hallway/entryway of the school and then a few posters randomly dispersed in the various hallways.
- Monday, October 2nd - Pajama Day
- Tuesday, October 3rd - Tie Dye Day
- Wednesday, October 4th - Neon Day
- Red vs. Blue Powder Puff Game - 7:30pm -This will take place at the Football Field in the evening! Come cheer on the Junior and Senior girls as they compete for bragging rights!
- Thursday, October 5th- Hawaiian Day
- Homecoming Court Assembly - This will take place during the morning (extended 4th period). As a reminder this is a serious assembly where the school will be introduced to the 5 girls running for Homecoming Queen, and the Homecoming Court Escorts. Please encourage your students to be quiet and respectful during the assembly. All students will sit with their classroom teacher in the bleachers during this assembly. - Pep Assembly - This will take place during an extended 8th period at the end of the day. Students should sit with their grade. Students will sit with their graduating class during this assembly. Please see the seating chart here.

- Parade - The parade will line up at Metzenbaum starting at 4pm. It will kick off at 5pm, travel down Cedar Rd to the MS entrance and then to the football field. If you are in charge of a group/club/sport/activity (inside and outside of school) and would like to participate in the parade please let me know ASAP! Please plan to stay late, or come early to the game, to support the students in the parade! We are trying to make it the best ever, but if there is no one to watch it will be sad.
- Homecoming Game - Come cheer on the Wolverines as they beat Orange! The Homecoming Queen will be announced during pre-game
- Saturday, October 7th
- Homecoming Dance - 8pm-11pm - The theme this year is “Hollywood". It is really shaping up to be a great theme and year. We have a great DJ,and photo booth. I am in need of some ticket takers for the dance. You would need to come a little before 8pm and only stay until around 9pm (you do NOT need to stay for the entire dance!). This is an AWESOME opportunity to see your students all "dressed up" and outside of the classroom. Students are always excited to see their teachers at the dance, and I am always appreciative of those willing to help! As an added bonus, you get brownie points with the administration!
