Building Goals - If you recall in my opening presentation at the beginning of the year, I described goals for our building this year. These goals included a creation of productive data-driven collaborative teams aimed at growing students and embedding effective writing activities in weekly class work. It is important you keep these goals in mind and work toward successfully implementing them in your work. Please invite Mr. Dahlhofer or me into your classroom to see these lessons.
Snowball - Wow, I can't believe that the Snowball dance is right around the corner. It is expected to be the best event for teachers volunteers this year! Not only will you get to help check in our students, you can make sure they are making good choices on the dance floor. As a reward, you will be forever loved by Mrs. Meyer, Mr. Dahlhofer and Mr. Bishop (not that you wouldn't anyway). Also, we will supply you with as much water as you need to stay hydrated for the evening. Dance starts at 8:00, but you don't have to get there until 7:45! Oh, and if there is a dance souvenir, you get to take one home! Please tell Stephanie you are interested today!
Struggling Students - The midway mark for the third quarter is Tuesday, February 7th. In years past, we would send home progress reports for struggling students. Since you are asked to complete an academic support form for any struggling student, you do no need to duplicate your work. Please submit a form anytime a student begins to struggle, week three and week six. It is expected you continue to follow up with forms as continued documentation for any student struggling after six weeks. All form email receipts need to be forwarded to student's parents. Recognized that if you continue to have a struggling student, modify your instructional approach and document these approaches on the support form. Do not resort to placing blame on the students for the poor grade.
HS Website - If you advise a club, activity or coach a sport, please make sure that portion of the high school's website is correct and up to date. Any changes for athletics, clubs and activities should be directed to Lisa Porter. Classroom websites are the responsibility of the teacher and also should be kept up to date.
College Fair - Please remind our students to take advantage of the outstanding opportunity to attend the WEDGE College Fair at WGHS on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. This fair has become so well received that over 100 colleges and universities are expected to attend. It was just announced last week that WMJI's Jimmy Malone will be a guest speaker during the event. Jimmy is also the founder of the Jimmy Malone Scholarship Program. I will provide a flyer for each of you to place in your classroom.
