Important Information

Benefit - Many of you have expressed an interest in helping Kim as she works through her treatments.  A plan has been created and we have communicated this with Kim and she is very grateful.  On Friday, April 8th from 6:00 to 8:00, a fundraising event will be held at WGHS.  The details are still being worked out but we hope to hold a spaghetti dinner with live entertainment and activities for all ages.  Your help is greatly needed in order to make the evening successful.   Please see the Google Doc here for a list of volunteers needed and to sign up.  A meeting will be held in the HS's library immediately following school on Tuesday for anyone wishing to help.

Advisory Period - Please know where your students are during advisory period.  Use passes when students want to go to another teacher for help.  Feel free to use permanent passes for students wishing to permanently join another teacher during advisory.  Completed permanent passes can be submitted to Mr. Murawski.  Please refer students to Mr. Murawski if you are unable to locate students on your attendance list.

Coach Marino in action.
Remediation Students - It looks like you are off to a nice start with the remediation of our AIR students.  Thank you for your hard work in helping these student become successful on their AIR retake during the week of April 18.  If you added students to the "missing" student list, please check the list again and delete them if they have been found and are now attending your session.  If you have missing students in class, please direct them to their remediation teacher.  Thank you.

State Wrestling - Be sure to congratulate to Joe Fornaro for placing 6th place at the OHSAA State
Wrestling Tournament this weekend.  Congratulations, Coach Marino.  We know you worked hard to help Joe get to the big tournament.

State Indoor Track - Congratulations Dakota Medley and Brittni Mason on their outstanding performances at the Indoor State Track Meet this past Saturday at Akron University. Dakota finished 5th in the 800meter run out of a field of 18 of the best runners in the state. His time of 1min. 59sec is one of the fastest 800meter times at WestG in the last decade! Brittni got on the podium twice. First, as the State Champion in the 60meter dash, setting a new Division II state record (7.56sec.), while her second trip to the podium was as the State Runner-Up in the 200meters setting a personal best time as well!
AIR Test Preparation - We are 19 days from the start of the AIR Tests.  At this point, tested area teachers should be preparing students with sample tests and test questions.  Please be sure students are familiar with the question style as well as the technology skills necessary to perform well on the assessments. See item below for additional information on tech skills.

AIR Tech Skills - It is essential that time is spent exploring areas of the AIR Assessment where students are going to be required to master certain tech skills. For some subjects this may mean using an online graph and calculator and in other areas a highlighter, using a video player, dragging and dropping and scrolling. Please use InfoOhio's online tool in assisting students with these necessary technology tools. Click here to create an online Pearltree account and begin exploring the site. Here are some additional resources broken up by topic.

AIR Proctors - All building teachers will need to be available to proctor the AIR assessments during the week of April 11th. It is important that all of you are knowledgeable in test administration.  Ohio has created a nice tutorial that will guide you through the entire process.  All teaching staff will need to go through this 30 minute online certificated training prior to the April 11 test.  Click on our district's AIR/TIDE Resources here for a direct link to the training and resources.
