Important Information
NGA - The End of Year (EOY) assessments will begin during the week of April 27. The schedule will run very similar to the PBA. There will be a few changes to the groups in order to make the numbers evenly distributed. Students will also get their testing schedules on cards the week prior to testing. Click here for the EOY calendar. Teachers in an assessed area need to go through the practice tests with their students prior to the scheduled test date.
Lockdowns - Please take a moment to look at the A.L.I.C.E presentation that was given at the beginning of the year. It is always good to refresh your memory and think about what to do in various lockdown situations. You can find the presentation in your opening day folder or by clicking here.
PTO - Please let PTO know if you are looking to fund an idea you have for your classroom. Here is a note from the PTO President, Kelly Anderson.
To All West G Middle and High School Teachers,
West Geauga Secondary P.T.O is encouraging all teachers to please fill out this fund request form prior to our May 14th meeting. We will be voting on disbursing our funds to all teachers that turned in forms. Please print off this form and put it inside of the P.T.O mailboxes at either school. We have not been receiving request forms from staff in the past and we want to make everyone aware that this form is on the P.T.O website. We do accept these requests all year long, so if you are not in need now please keep this is in mind for next year. Remember we are a parent/teacher group, our purpose is to help you. Please consider joining us at our meetings.

SLO's - Please take time over the next few PLC meetings to collaborate with your peers regarding your SLO data. Share the student results with your department and/or PLC members. Use the time to determine the effectiveness of your class strategies used to teach the standards. What worked and what didn't work? Use this information and peer collaboration to grow from the data. When meeting in your PLC groups to discuss these common assessments, reflect on these questions by Richard DuFour:
- What will we do when the students to not learn?
- What will we do when the students learn?
These standards will be assessed at the end of the school year in the form of a final exam. What will you do to address the students that did not learn? What can you do to see that the accomplished learner remains challenged in your course? Use your PLC time to identify possible intervention strategies to reach the struggling learners and identify approaches to push the proficient student even further.
Open House - The West Geauga Board of Education will host an Open House for our new superintendent on Thursday, April 9th from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Please feel free to join us as we welcome Dr. Markwardt to the district with refreshments and student performances from all four buildings. The event will be held at WGMS.
Wolverun - Color Me West G - On Sunday, May 31st, our PTO and Interact will host a Color Run to benefit both organizations and the groups they support. This is going to be a fantastic event where we hope to get the entire West G community to participate. Click here for more information and to register for the event.
