Important Information

PBIS Walkthrough - On April 21, 2021, ODE will conduct a walkthrough at WGHS to evaluate our progress with PBIS.   Please take time this Wednesday during 5th period to review the PBIS program with the students. Here is a FAQ sheet that can help guide your discussion with the students.  Be sure to also remind students of our students' three expectations as part of the program: Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn.  A short discussion about the meaning of those expectations would be beneficial to your students and the school. Please see this FAQ and myth document and this presentation by Mike Mikes from December for more information.  ODE staff members will ask questions of the staff and students during the walkthrough.

Underclass Awards Ceremony - Thank you all for submitting the names of students you are recognizing at this year's awards ceremony.  Jim Kish will be here all day on Tuesday to record your presentations. Awards will be handed out in school on Tuesday,  April 21st.

Morning Announcements - If you advise a club, coach a team, or simply have information to share with the students at West Geauga, please get the news on the morning announcements.  This is a great way to recognize our students as part of the PBIS program and spread the word about good things in the school and your classroom. Please send an email with your announcement to westg.tv@westg.org, and be sure to tune in to the morning announcement every day during the first ten minutes of 5th period.

Testing Bell Schedule Change - Please see the updated 2021 End-of-Course Assessment Schedule.  The state grants an extra fifteen minutes per ELA test day for students to organize and support their written responses.  On April 15 and 16, class periods will not begin until 10:04 A.M. The schedule will remain as posted for all other test days.

State Testing - State testing begins this week.  Please give our students one last pep talk before they take their end-of-course exams. Students currently enrolled in Algebra I, Geometry, English 10, U.S. History, Government, and Biology will take exams over the next three weeks. Teachers of these courses, please remind students that they can raise their course grade by getting a 3, 4, or 5 on the EoC exam.  For example, if a student gets a 4 on the exam and has a C in the course, their final course grade will be bumped to a B.

Thank you to all of our state-tested area teachers.  You have done a nice job of preparing our students for these important assessments. Keep up the good work in the days before the test.

2021 EoC Testing Information Webpage - Please read this webpage for continuous updates as we move through the testing season. There are action items that all teachers and test administrators need to take on this page.  Testing room numbers and student assignments are in the page link.

Chromebooks - Please remind all students in your tested courses to charge their Chromebooks the night before a test.
