Important Information
Upcoming State Assessments - We are eleven instructional weeks from the upcoming AIR assessments and only four weeks from the state issued ACT exam. Our HS teaching and support staff have been working hard to ensure all students are able to master Ohio's Content Standards. Time is being devoted by many in data team meetings where student learning deficits are addressed through proper planning and instruction. Instructional planning time and PLC's should also be devoted to identifying students that struggle in all subject areas. Enrichment instruction needs to be prepared to push our students to higher levels of learning. With these final weeks prior to the high stakes tests, continue to maintain rigorous instruction that addresses every learners' needs. I know our community is proud of the work we are doing and looks forward to even better things to come.
Field Trips - Please remember that all field trip requests must be submitted to the building principal at least 15 days prior to scheduled trip. Thank you!
Class Meetings - On Monday and Tuesday this week, Dr. Markwardt and I are meeting with the freshmen and sophomore classes, respectively. The topic of the meeting includes the likely Newbury land transfer and what it means for our student body. Please feel free to join us in 124 if you are available.
Junior ACT Class Meetings - The juniors will meet during advisory periods on January 31st and February 13th. Presentations will be made by Nancy Benincasa, Kathleen Cooey and me regarding the February 20th ACT exam. Topics include general preparations, skills, and strategies required to score well on the state assessment. The dates have been placed on the school calendar and are posted below. Please share this information with your students and ensure all attend during the scheduled time slots.

Positive Phone Calls - Please contact parents when students are to be commended for the outstanding work they are doing in your classroom. There is not one parent that would not want to hear great news about their child. This message gets passed to the student and encourages him/her to continually put their best foot forward.
Keep Students Out of the Halls - Please limit the number of students that you let out of your classrooms to use the restrooms. A good classroom policy might be to give a student one pass per quarter or even per semester. Issue points to students who are tardy to your class without a pass.
