Important Information 

AIR Test Week - I can't say enough how smoothly the administration of our AIR test week went.  The success of the test administration is due to your diligence in preparing for the week.  When presented with a problem, students recognized the calm manner in which you handled the situations.  This attitude was a huge benefit to anyone observing any struggle that existed.  Students were relaxed and appeared quite comfortable during the test.  Again, this is attributed to you.  Great job, everyone.  I am proud of all of your hard work!

Academic Awards Ceremony - Thursday, April 21 will be the Annual Academic Awards Breakfast and Ceremony.  An agenda will be emailed to you early this week.  Please note that a guidance counselor or available teacher will stop by and sit in your classroom when it is time to present your awards.  Thank you for recognizing these well deserved students.  The Senior Awards Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 9th.

Student Attendance - Last week Theresa Poelking emailed out information regarding students that have been turned over to the county for a large number of absences or tardies.  These students appear as being unexcused on the attendance information that is emailed to you even though the form indicates a parent has called them in sick.  Per the courts, we are required to mark them as unexcused once they reach a large number of absences or tardies.  The school, however, still needs to provide an education to the child.  Please allow the students to make up assignments if they are excused by a parent. See me if you have any questions.

Leaving Building - Please let the main office know if you are leaving the building for any reason during the day.

AESOP - All certified staff members need to login and fill out leave information if you are going to be out for all or part of the school day.  Staff members not needing coverage will still complete the AESOP form.

Copies - Please be cognizant of the number of paper copies that you make throughout the year.  In this day in age where many of us use Google Classroom, Moodle and other course management systems, we still have a very large amount of copies made.  Consider submitting assignments through Google Drive and assessments through lightening grader, etc.  "Shifting to online workspaces such as Google Docs not only saves paper but also opens new opportunities for collaboration and just-in-time feedback."  Please remember that copyrighted work may not be photocopied without permission from the author or publisher.

College Fair - WGHS and OACAC (College Counselors Association) will be hosting it's third annual college fair for current 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders on April 25th at WGHS.  This fair provides an excellent opportunity for students to get in front of admission counselors and inquire about their next steps in their education.  Please help get the word out by explaining the benefits and wonderful opportunity to have the program on our campus.  The fair is open to anyone from surrounding communities. FYI - Jim Tressel will be our guest speaker at the evening's fair.

Indians Game - Kathleen Cooey has arranged for our staff to attend an Indians game on May 29th at 1:00pm.  Please submit $20 per ticket by Friday, April 29th if you are interested in going. Thanks for setting this up, Kathleen!
