Important Information
Holiday Festivities! - We certainly have a wonderful holiday food lineup this week thanks to our PTO and the pop machine fund. PTO will provide lunch to our staff on Tuesday. Be sure to eat a light lunch on Thursday because pizza, wings, salad and drinks will be provided after school during our holiday celebration. If you still have room in your stomach, Mr. Walton and the pop machine fund will provide breakfast on Friday in the teacher's lounge.
Holiday Arrangements - Be sure to stop by the environmental education tables during lunch periods on Thursday, December 18. Every year the wreaths and center pieces tend to be a big hit so get there early. All items range in price from $6 and up.
Midterm Exams - Midterm Exams will follow a similar schedule as the previous couple of years. Please follow this link to this year's schedule. In the past we have had many phone calls from parents excusing their children from school during non testing periods. Please adhere to this schedule and keep the lessons relevant when you are not testing. Explain to your students that they are expected to be in class every day during midterm week.
Cafe Achieve - Our Project Achieve class sells coffee, breakfast burritos and cookies every morning in the cafeteria. They have a great selection of Keurig coffees at a great price. Stop by and grab a cup to go.
Academic Pinning and Letter Ceremony - Congratulations went out this past week to 164 students who received their academic pin and an opportunity to order a letter for their jacket. These students earned a minimum 3.75 weighted GPA during the 2013-2014 school year. Click here for a full list of students earning their pin/letter. PLC's - Nancy and I are now finished meeting with each of you regarding your SLO's and student growth measures. All of you were congratulated for doing a ton of work in a relatively short amount of time. Great job! We are planning to meet with you again at the end of the year to go over your SLO assessment scores. Please use PLC time to complete and/or update your pacing guides.
Pacing Guides - Your pacing guides will always be a work in progress. Pacing guides will be used to identify good instruction at West Geauga High School. I am in the process of going through HS pacing guides and have made several comments on the documents. Please be sure all pacing guides are divided up by weeks. In the far right column of the course pacing guide, the "Classroom Implementation of Standard Statements" column needs to include the following:
- What the students will be able to do
- What you are looking for when evaluating students work
- Detailed assessments- both formative and summative
