Important Information
Winter Choir Concert - Congratulations to Paul S. on a very successful winter choir concert. I must admit, this is the first winter concert I have attended and now realize I have been missing something special. We have so many talented singers in our building and they are all to be commended. Nice job, Paul. Next year I will bring my entire family!
Professional Development - I commend those of you that have attended sessions from the district's professional development series. These meetings provide an opportunity for you to learn about district and state initiatives, improve what you do everyday in the classroom and receive compensation for attending ten sessions. In order to accommodate your schedules, sessions are offered at both 3:00 and 4:00 on scheduled days. Please click on the Professional Development link found at the top of the page for more information.
Educator Licensure - Educator licensure is going paperless on January 1, 2014. Click here for more information.
Arapahoe High School - Another sad story involving a school shooting comes on the heels of Newtown's one year anniversary. It is another reminder that we need to be vigilant in reporting any student concerns to guidance counselors or administrators. Please make it a habit to be in the halls between periods and observe student behaviors in the classroom.
Edublog Awards - Check out the best of the best education blogs for the year. There is a lot of great work being created by classrooms, individual students, teachers and administrators that is being shared with the world. Check them out here.
Midterm Exams - Midterm Exams will follow a similar schedule to the past couple years. Please follow this link to this year's schedule. In the past we have had many phone calls from parents excusing their children from school during non testing periods. Please adhere to this schedule and keep the lessons relevant when you are not testing. Explain to your students that they are expected to be in class every day during midterm week.
Observe Peers - I would encourage all of you to observe your fellow teachers in the classroom. Consider teachers observing teachers a piece of professional development that will help you grow as and educator. I have been in so many of your classrooms throughout the years and I have learned a great deal and gained so many ideas from what you do everyday. I think all of you could grow from this type of professional development. Contact a peer if you are interested in observing their class and understand this is not a requirement on either end. Please let Mr. Dahlhofer aware if you scheduled an observation during one of your class periods and he will arrange coverage.
