Important Information
Remote Learning - Thank you to all of you for the nice transition to online instruction. As I do, I know many of you feel it is less than ideal to teach students remotely. The online environment presents its challenges. I am glad to see so many effective strategies developed and implemented to keep students engaged and learning while students are home. Again, thank you for making this transition online. Hopefully, by having another week at home, we will be back in the building with fewer active COVID cases. During this remote learning period, please feel free to work from the building or at home. Our office is open with the office staff working in the building daily. Please let us know if you need anything.
Student Attendance - Teachers, please reiterate with students the expectations that they attend your class every day, and they are ready to learn. Students are not to attend class from a place of employment or a car. Please engage students in each lesson by participating and demonstrating their learning as they would in the classroom. This can be accomplished through verbal conversation, exit slips, entrance slips, etc. If you find situations students are in that raise a red flag, please let a counselor or an administrator know. We will follow up with students and their families if necessary. Daily student attendance should be taken every period.
Stop the Hate Essay Contest - Many of you are familiar that Class of 2019 senior Marcie Baker was a finalist in the Maltz Museum's Stop the Hate Essay Contest. This year's Maltz Museum contests include a songwriting contest and an essay writing contest. Each year, the museum gives out more than $100,000 in scholarships to category finalists. I encourage all of you to recognize a student you think would be a top contender for these contests. Your help in supporting the student through the writing process will go a long way in seeing that the student finds success in this prestigious northeast Ohio contest. Please let me know if you have a student working through the contest process. Thank you.
Food Drive - Thank you to Mrs. Talty and the students of Interact for organizing this year's food drive. The school contributed over $2,000 delivered to the Geauga County Hunger Task Force for distribution to those in need. Great job in supporting such an important program.
