Important Information
Great Start - We are off to a great start to the school year. Thank you to all of you for your hard hard work that is required for a successful school opening. Our students are excited to be back and they enjoyed seeing you. Have a great year!
Staff Links - Throughout the year, you will likely need access to documents, forms, website logins, etc. Sean Whelan has placed a link at the top of our website that is devoted to assisting staff in accessing this information. Be sure to click here to find out what is available to you.

Classified and Certified Absences - All classified absences should be entered into Kiosk. The link to Kiosk is found under the Staff Link at the top right of the school's website.
Work Order Requests - If you need to fix a non-technical item in your classroom or the building, you will need to submit a work order. Work orders can be submitted by accessing this link. All staff has been issued a login. Your username is your email address. Your password is 12345 if you have never logged in before. If you have logged in and can not remember your password, click Send Password Reset Link.
Tech Work Orders - If you need help with anything tech-related (computers, printers, projectors, logins, etc.) please complete a Technology Reporting and Support Ticket. This link is also found under the Staff Link at the top right of the website.
Building Use Permits - If you have an in-school activity you are supervising outside of the school day hours, please complete a building use permit. This ensures there are no conflicts with rooms or other aspects of the building facilities. Thank you!
School Safety Drills - Please take some time in all of your classes to discuss school safety drills that will occur throughout the year. These drills include tornado, fire, and ALICE. Safety drill information is posted in your classroom near your door and should be used as a reference. ALICE information is posted in the Teacher Opening Day Folder and needs to be review prior to discussing with your students. We will have a fire drill at 10:10 on Monday, August 26th and a Theoretical ALICE drill following the morning announcements on Thursday, August 29. Please be prepared for both.
Theoretical ALICE Drill- As mentioned above, on Thursday, August 29th, we will hold a theoretical ALICE Drill. Mr. Bishop will come on the PA and provide theoretical situations to the building's students and staff. We will NOT take action during this drill. Instead, teachers should hold a class discussion about what students should do during the presented scenarios. Any questions or concerns following the drill should be directed to Mr. Krippel, Officer Rich, or Mr. Bishop.
Exterior Doors - Please make sure you instruct your students to never prop a door when they are going outside. Students that need to go out to their car during the school day must get permission from a principal and go through the attendance office. We will always tell a student they need to get buzzed back in the main entrance when reentering.
More Building Safety - Please question individuals you see in the building that you do not recognize. Do not assume they are building substitutes. All substitutes are asked to wear a badge.
Monitor Halls - Please stand at your door between periods. Not only does this help curb negative behavior, but it is also a nice gesture to greet the students as they enter your room.
Your WG Calendar - Be sure you have access to West Geauga High School's Parent/Student and Staff Calendars. You can easily add these to your school Google Calendar. You are expected to accept or decline appointments when invited to events by colleagues and administration. Please see Tracy Suba if you have trouble accessing any of these calendars.
HS Calendar - If you advise a club, group or have events that need to be on the school calendar, please send information to Tracy Suba so it can be placed on the high school's calendar.
Morning Announcements - West G TV presents the morning announcements to the school at the beginning of second period. The videos are played in your classroom through West G TV's YouTube Channel. You are expected to access the channel and play the announcements daily. Please see Mr. Bishop if you have trouble connecting to the announcements. Here is a direct link to the morning announcements on the YouTube Channel.
Scantron Machine - Please note the scantron machine is now located in the main office copy room.
Laminator - The school's laminator has also been moved to the main office. It will be housed in the small copy room.
Open House - Open house will take place this Tuesday from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. Parents have been asked to report to the cafeteria between 6:45 and 7:00 to pick up schedules. Parents will follow their students class schedule and the first-period bell will ring at 7:00 P.M. Teachers will have 12 minutes each period to give parents an introduction to your class. Please have available any textbooks and/or resources you expect your students to bring home or use in class. Explain where students and parents can find class documents, website and presentations online. Discuss how your parents can view your Google Classroom, Twitter accounts and/or sign up for the class Remind 101 accounts. Your classrooms and hallway bulletin boards should be decorated with relevant classroom materials. Joyce will print name tags and parent sign-in sheets for each teacher. Here is the parent flyer containing the bell schedule that has been distributed to families.
PLC Wednesday - This week will be our first PLC Wednesday. Please meet with the PLC team you met with on Monday, August 19th. You will continue your work as described in your PD Day Document stored in your course Google Drive Folder. Please note, this document varies per course.

Parent Contact - Parents can be your best partners when working to see your students reach their potential. It is important to develop positive relationships with all of your students' parents. You can begin this process by sending home an email introducing yourself. Be sure to include some goals and outcomes you will work hard to have their children achieve throughout the year. It is great to see that many of you send out weekly emails describing assignments and noting upcoming tests and quizzes. Keep it up! Don't forget to include your contact information in the event they need to reach you. Here are some additional resources used to build positive relationships with your parents.

PLC Wednesday - This week will be our first PLC Wednesday. Please meet with the PLC team you met with on Monday, August 19th. You will continue your work as described in your PD Day Document stored in your course Google Drive Folder. Please note, this document varies per course.
- This document contains your PLC groups and a link to the Google Drive Folder that will house your PLC work for the year. Add this folder to your Google Drive.
- Complete all of the work described in YOUR folder's PD Day Documentation. Please note - this document varies by course.
- Create a copy of your course's pacing guide and store it in the Google Drive Folder described above. Label this document as the 19-20 *Course* Pacing guide.
- Make sure your pacing guide is complete for the first quarter. Include links to your assessments. These should be stored electronically and contain links for access. Make sure this document is shared with only your team members and HS principals.
- Make a copy and complete this PLC Meeting Agenda Framework for every PLC meeting. Store this document in PLC folder identified above.
Since many of you like the way you organize your folders in Google Drive, you do not need to alter your system per these instructions. Instead, use Shift+Z on your keyboard to store the same document in more than one folder. Here are video instructions on how to save one file in two locations in Google Drive.
Professional Growth Plans - You are scheduled to be formally or informally observed during the 2019-2020 school year. Please be sure to complete your growth plan in your eTPEs account prior to September 30th and schedule a day to review the document with me. When we meet, please have a few dates and times that are available for your first observation.
You will need to establish two goals when creating your growth plan. The first goal should address Student Outcomes/Achievement and the second goal needs to reflect Teacher Performance on the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession.
Please be sure to include building goals that were discussed on Convocation Day.
Teachers with a 2018-2019 OTES Rating of Skilled or Accomplished will develop their Growth Plan independently. Teacher with a rating of Developing will work with their assigned evaluator to complete the Growth Plan.
